Planting Instructions for ScentAmazing® Gardenia (Gardenia jasminoides)

  1. Site Selection and Soil Preparation:
  • Location: Choose a spot with partial sun to light shade. Gardenias thrive in morning sun and some afternoon shade, especially in hot climates. Too much direct afternoon sun can scorch the leaves.
  • Soil: Gardenias prefer well-draining, acidic soil with a pH between 5.0 and 6.5. You can amend the soil with organic matter, such as peat moss or compost, to improve drainage and lower the pH if necessary. A soil test can help determine if any adjustments are needed.
