One Year Guarantee

When you order from Nationwide Plants, you're not just buying a plant — you're investing in your landscape. That's why we stand behind every plant we ship with a full 365 days of coverage, so you can plant with confidence knowing we have your back from delivery day through every season ahead.
Days 1–30: The 30-Day Plant Promise
If your plant arrives damaged, or if it fails to thrive within the first 30 days after delivery, we'll send a free replacement — as quick as we can.
Just contact us here with your order number and a quick photo, and we'll ship a replacement at no cost to you.
Days 31–365: The Happy & Healthy Guarantee
We've now expanded our coverage to a full year. If your plant doesn't survive between days 31 and 365 after delivery, we'll replace it for 50% of the current retail price and ship a healthy new plant to your door.
This gives you a full growing season (and then some) to see how your plants establish, without the risk of a total loss.
How to File a Claim
Filing a claim is simple. Within your coverage window:
- Go to our help page here
- Include in your message:
- Your order number
- A clear photo of the plant
- A short description of what happened and where the plant was installed
- We'll review your claim within 1–2 business days and confirm next steps.
- For Days 31–365 claims, we'll send a secure payment link for 50% of the current retail price. Once paid, your replacement ships on the next available send date for your hardiness zone.
What Counts as a Covered Loss
A plant is considered a covered loss when it shows no signs of life:
- Trees and shrubs: No green tissue under a light bark scratch on the main stem or trunk.
- Perennials and ornamental grasses: No live growth from the crown once the appropriate growing season has begun for your zone.
- Evergreens: Browning, brittle needles or foliage throughout the entire plant with no remaining live tissue.
Plants that are simply dormant, stressed, slow to establish, or recovering from transplant shock are not considered losses — many of our plants take a full season to settle in and reach their best appearance.
If you're not sure whether your plant is dormant or truly dead, send us a photo first. We're happy to help you tell the difference before filing a claim.
What's Not Covered
To keep our guarantee sustainable for every customer, the following are not eligible for replacement:
- Plants installed outside their recommended USDA hardiness zone
- Damage caused by improper care, including under- or over-watering, over-pruning, fertilizer burn, herbicide damage, or planting too deep or too shallow
- Damage from external factors beyond our control — severe weather events, drought, freezes, animals, insects, disease, vandalism, or accidents
- Plants moved or transplanted after the original planting
- Plants used in commercial landscaping projects or purchased for resale (this guarantee is for residential customers only)
- Indoor plants installed outdoors, or outdoor plants kept indoors, contrary to their care instructions
- Plants in dormancy
Substitutions and Store Credit
If your original plant variety is out of stock when your replacement is ready to ship, we'll work with you to make it right by either:
- Substituting a comparable variety (with your approval), or
- Issuing store credit for the equivalent replacement value, valid for 24 months from the issue date and usable on anything in our catalog.
Replacement Limit
The Happy & Healthy Guarantee covers one replacement per plant within the 365-day window from the date of your original delivery. If a replacement plant also fails, we'll review the situation case by case, but we can't guarantee a second free or discounted replacement on the same item.
