How We Ship Your Plants
Ordering live plants online should feel exciting, not stressful! We only ship healthy, well-rooted trees and plants!
Beware- not all plant nurseries are the same! Others can cut corners to save money:
- We never ship bareroot plants
- We never cut roots to fit into a small box
- We always ship plants with healthy, developed roots so they establish faster at your home
- We focus on plant health first- not minimizing shipping costs
A strong root system is the foundation for long-term success, and we believe your plant should arrive ready to thrive- not struggling to recover from shortcuts.
How we Select Your Plants
Once you place your order, our nursery team selects your plant and inspects it to make sure it meets our quality standards. Every plant we ship is chosen for:
- Strong health and vibrant foliage
- A well-developed root system
- Correct sizing based on your order
We take pride in sending plants that are ready to succeed when they arrive at your home. We try our best to exceed your expectations!
Once your plants are selected, we give them a drink of water before their journey. Then, we wrap each plant's roots up in a plastic bag, so that they do not dry out during shipping.
Carefully Packed & Protected
Live plants can’t be packed like ordinary boxes, so we do it differently.
Your plant is carefully secured inside a strong shipping box to protect it while traveling. Packaging may include:
- Support materials for stability
- Protection around the pot and roots
- Reinforced boxing for added protection
For larger trees, we use oversize boxes designed to safely accommodate the size and structure of your plant during shipping.
Sometimes, you will receive multiple plants inside a box. This is helpful because it can evenly distribute the weight throughout the box, which helps keeps the plants safe and secure throughout delivery.
Fast & Reliable with FedEx
Most Nationwide Plants orders ship with FedEx. Over the years, we’ve found FedEx to be the best carrier for live plants, especially larger items, because:
- They deliver quickest across the country
- They are the most gentle with live plants
- Faster transit means less plant stress
Once your order ships, we will email you tracking information so you can follow your delivery from our nursery to your doorstep.
We ship Monday through Friday. Most orders ship the next business day, unless you request a custom shipping date.
Multiple Nursery Locations
We ship from multiple locations across the country, including both the East Coast and West Coast. This allows us to:
- Deliver faster in more regions
- Reduce time in transit for your plants
- Ship large items more efficiently

How We Measure Your Trees
We measure tree height from the soil line, not including the pot.
That means when you order a 5-6 ft. tree, you’re getting a tree that is 5-6 ft. tall above the soil, not “including the container.” This gives you a good idea of what to expect when your trees arrive, and what they will look like when they are in the ground.

After Your Plants Arrive
It’s completely normal for a plant to look slightly different after shipping. Your plant has been traveling in a box, so you may notice:
- Minor leaf drop
- Soil that shifted slightly in the pot
- Temporary drooping from being in a darker environment
In most cases, your plant perks up quickly once it’s unboxed, watered (if needed), and placed in the proper environment.
Unboxing Your Plants
When your plants arrive, we recommend:
-
Open carefully (avoid cutting into foliage)
-
Remove all packing materials
-
Check soil moisture (If the soil feels dry, give it a thorough watering)
-
Let the plant recover (Give it a little fresh air after shipping)
If you ever have questions or concerns, we’re happy to help!
Our 30-Day Plant Promise
We stand behind every order we ship with our 30-Day Plant Promise.
If your plant dies within 30 days of delivery, we will replace it or refund it. We’ve found that if there are ever issues, they typically show up in the first 30 days- so this guarantee gives our customers real peace of mind.
If anything doesn’t look right, contact us and we’ll help you troubleshoot quickly.

Description
New Blue Tam Juniper: Bright Blue Evergreen Groundcover for Year-Round Color
Add cool color and easy coverage to your landscape with New Blue Tam Juniper. This low-growing evergreen spreads across the ground to form a dense mat of soft blue foliage that looks attractive in every season.
Fresh spring growth starts in a bright powder-blue shade, then deepens to a richer blue as it matures. Its wide, ground-hugging shape makes it a great choice for slopes, rock gardens, borders, foundation beds, and other areas where you want lasting color with very little maintenance.
Why You'll Love New Blue Tam Juniper
Year-Round Blue Foliage: Soft blue evergreen foliage keeps your landscape colorful through spring, summer, fall, and winter.
Bright Powder-Blue Spring Growth: New growth opens in a lighter blue shade for an extra pop of seasonal color.
Low, Spreading Habit: This juniper stays close to the ground and spreads outward, making it useful as an evergreen groundcover.
Great for Slopes: Its spreading growth helps cover bare soil and can help with erosion control.
Fine Texture: The soft-looking foliage adds contrast next to larger leaves, flowering shrubs, and perennials.
Low Maintenance: Once established, New Blue Tam Juniper needs very little pruning or extra care.
Beautiful Blue Color Through Every Season
The main feature of New Blue Tam Juniper is its rich blue foliage. In spring, the newest growth can appear powder blue before changing to a deeper shade as the season goes on.
Because the plant is evergreen, that color stays in the landscape through winter when many other plants have lost their leaves.
A Low-Growing Evergreen for Open Spaces
New Blue Tam Juniper grows low and spreads wide, helping cover open soil without adding much height. Its dense growth creates a neat, finished look in sunny garden beds and other hard-to-fill areas.
It is especially useful where you want ground coverage without the work of mowing or trimming a taller shrub.
Where to Plant New Blue Tam Juniper
Slopes and Hillsides: Use it to cover sunny banks and help reduce exposed soil.
Rock Gardens: Its blue foliage looks especially attractive around stone, gravel, and boulders.
Garden Borders: Plant it near the front of beds for low-growing evergreen color.
Foundation Plantings: Use it near your home to add soft blue texture without blocking windows or taller plants.
Mass Plantings: Plant several together to create a broad area of blue evergreen coverage.
Outdoor Containers: Grow it in a large pot or planter to add year-round color to patios, porches, and entryways.
New Blue Tam Juniper Sun and Soil Needs
Sunlight: Plant New Blue Tam Juniper in full sun for the best growth and strongest blue foliage color.
Soil: This juniper grows best in well-drained soil. Avoid areas where water stays around the roots for long periods.
Watering: Water regularly while the plant is becoming established. Once the roots are settled in, it becomes easier to care for and can handle drier conditions.
Blue Berry-Like Cones Add Extra Interest
New Blue Tam Juniper may produce small blue berry-like cones that add another layer of color and texture to the plant.
These ornamental cones can remain on the branches for an extended period, giving the shrub even more seasonal interest.
Great for Slopes and Erosion Control
The spreading branches of New Blue Tam Juniper help cover exposed soil on slopes and banks. This can make it useful in areas where rain may wash loose soil away or where mowing would be difficult.
Its low growth also helps keep these areas looking neat and green throughout the year.
Easy Care With Very Little Pruning
New Blue Tam Juniper naturally grows into a low, spreading shape, so regular pruning is usually not needed. Give it plenty of sun, well-drained soil, and regular water while it becomes established.
After that, it can provide dependable evergreen color with very little attention.
Easy Blue Color for Tough Landscape Spaces
If you want a low-growing evergreen with bright blue foliage, easy-care growth, and dependable ground coverage, New Blue Tam Juniper is an excellent choice.
Plant New Blue Tam Juniper for year-round blue color, soft texture, and simple coverage that looks great in slopes, borders, rock gardens, and more.
