How We Ship Your Plants
Here's what you can expect:
Beware- not all online plant nurseries are the same!
Some nurseries cut corners to save money- especially when shipping larger plants!
- We never ship bare-root plants
- We never chop or cut roots just to fit into a smaller box
- We ship plants with large, developed root systems so they establish faster at your home
- We focus on plant health first- not minimizing shipping costs
A strong root system is the foundation for long-term success, and we believe your plant should arrive ready to thrive- not struggling to recover from shortcuts.
Here’s exactly what you can expect after you place your order.
Selecting Your Plants for Shipping
Once you place your order, our nursery team selects your plant and inspects it to make sure it meets our quality standards. Every plant we ship is chosen for:
- Strong health and vibrant foliage
- A well-developed root system
- Correct sizing based on what you ordered
We take pride in sending plants that are ready to succeed when they arrive at your home. We try our best to exceed your expectations!
Once your plants are selected, we give them a drink of water before their journey. Then, we wrap each plant's roots up in a plastic bag, so that they do not dry out during shipping.
Carefully Packed & Protected
Live plants can’t be packed like ordinary boxes, so we do it differently.
Your plant is carefully secured inside a strong shipping box to protect it while traveling through the carrier network. Depending on what you ordered, packaging may include:
- Support materials to keep the plant stable
- Protection around the pot and root ball to prevent shifting
- Reinforced boxing to reduce bending or breakage
For larger trees, we use oversize boxes designed to safely accommodate the size and structure of the plant during shipping.
Sometimes, you will receive multiple plants inside a box. This is helpful because it can evenly distribute the weight throughout the box, which helps keeps the plants safe and secure throughout delivery.
Fast, Reliable Shipping with FedEx
Most Nationwide Plants orders ship with FedEx. Over the years, we’ve found FedEx to be the best carrier for live plants, especially larger items, because:
- They deliver quickly across the country
- They are consistently the most gentle with live plant packages
- Faster transit means less stress on your plant
Once your order ships, we will email you tracking information so you can follow your delivery from our nursery to your doorstep.
We ship Monday through Friday. Most orders ship the next business day, unless you request a custom shipping date.
We Ship From Multiple Nursery Locations
Nationwide Plants ships from multiple locations across the country, including locations on both the East Coast and West Coast. This allows us to:
- Deliver faster in more regions
- Reduce time in transit for your plants
- Ship large items more efficiently

How We Measure Your Tree Size
We measure tree height from the soil line, not including the pot.
That means when you order a 5-6 ft. tree, you’re getting a tree that is 5-6 ft. tall above the soil, not “including the container.” This gives you a good idea of what to expect when your trees arrive, and what they will look like when they are in the ground.
What Your Plant Might Look Like After Shipping
It’s completely normal for a plant to look slightly different after being in transit. Your plant has been traveling in a box, and you may notice:
- Minor leaf drop
- Soil that shifted slightly in the pot
- Temporary drooping from being in a darker environment
In most cases, your plant perks up quickly once it’s unboxed, watered (if needed), and placed in the proper environment.
Unboxing Your Plants (Quick & Easy)
When your plants arrive, we recommend:
-
Open carefully (avoid cutting into foliage)
-
Remove all packing materials
-
Check soil moisture
-
If the soil feels dry, give it a thorough watering
-
-
Let the plant recover
-
Give it a little fresh air after shipping
-
If you ever have questions or concerns, we’re happy to help!

Salmon Party Oriental Lily Bulbs: A Stunning Addition to Your Garden
If you're looking for a show-stopping flower that brings a burst of color and fragrance to your garden, Salmon PartyOriental Lily Bulbs are an excellent choice. With their large, ruffled petals in soft salmon-pink hues accented with deep red speckles, these lilies create an elegant and eye-catching display. The strong, upright stems and intoxicating fragrance make them perfect for flower beds, containers, and cut flower arrangements.
Why Choose Salmon Party Oriental Lilies?
- Vibrant Color & Unique Petal Structure – The rich salmon-pink tones with contrasting dark speckles and delicate white edges make these flowers stand out.
- Long-Lasting Blooms – Oriental lilies are known for their extended bloom time, offering beauty from mid to late summer.
- Strong, Upright Stems – These lilies grow up to 3-4 feet tall, providing a striking vertical element to your garden.
- Highly Fragrant – The sweet, heady scent of Salmon Party lilies makes them ideal for sensory gardens and cut flower arrangements.
- Easy to Grow & Low Maintenance – Hardy and adaptable, these bulbs thrive in various climates with minimal care.
Ideal Growing Conditions
Sunlight Requirements
Salmon Party Oriental Lilies flourish in full sun to partial shade. While they need at least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily for optimal blooming, they also appreciate some afternoon shade in hotter climates to prevent the petals from fading.
Soil & Drainage
For best results, plant the bulbs in well-draining soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH. Loamy or sandy soil enriched with organic matter is ideal. If your garden soil retains too much moisture, consider planting them in raised beds or containers to prevent bulb rot.
Watering Needs
Lilies prefer consistently moist soil but should never sit in waterlogged conditions. Water deeply once a week, ensuring the soil remains evenly moist. Mulching around the base of the plant helps retain moisture while keeping the roots cool.
Fertilizing for Healthy Blooms
A balanced fertilizer (10-10-10) applied in early spring and again after blooming encourages robust growth and vibrant flowers. Slow-release fertilizers or organic compost can also provide continuous nutrients throughout the growing season.
Planting Guide
When to Plant
For the best blooms, plant Salmon Party Oriental Lily bulbs in early spring or fall. Fall planting allows bulbs to establish roots before winter, leading to stronger growth in spring.
How to Plant
- Depth & Spacing – Plant bulbs 4-6 inches deep, spacing them 8-12 inches apart to allow proper airflow and prevent overcrowding.
- Orientation – Ensure the pointed end of the bulb faces up and cover with soil.
- Mulching – Apply a 2-inch layer of mulch to help insulate the bulbs and retain soil moisture.
Blooming & Maintenance
Bloom Time
Expect Salmon Party lilies to bloom from mid to late summer, producing large, elegant flowers that last several weeks. Deadheading spent blooms encourages continued flowering and prevents seed formation, allowing the plant to focus energy on next year’s growth.
Supporting Tall Stems
Due to their height, these lilies may benefit from staking, especially in windy locations. Planting them in clusters or near other sturdy plants can also provide natural support.
Winter Care
In colder climates (zones 3-4), add an extra layer of mulch after the first frost to protect bulbs from extreme temperatures. In warmer regions, no additional winter protection is needed.
Companion Plants
Pair Salmon Party Oriental Lilies with other perennials to create a well-balanced garden display:
- Lavender – Complements the pink hues and adds contrasting texture.
- Hostas – Their lush foliage provides a beautiful backdrop and helps shade the lily roots.
- Delphiniums – Adds vertical interest and pairs well with the lilies' height.
- Coneflowers (Echinacea) – Provides late-season color and attracts pollinators.
Perfect for Cut Flower Arrangements
With their stunning blooms and captivating fragrance, Salmon Party Oriental Lilies are a florist’s favorite. When cutting lilies for arrangements:
- Cut stems early in the morning when flowers are just beginning to open.
- Remove lower leaves to prevent bacterial growth in water.
- Place stems in a vase with fresh, cool water and change the water every 2 days for longer-lasting blooms.
Pest & Disease Resistance
Common Pests
- Aphids & Red Lily Beetles – Handpick beetles and use insecticidal soap if necessary.
- Slugs & Snails – Use organic deterrents like crushed eggshells or diatomaceous earth around the base of plants.
Disease Prevention
- Avoid overhead watering to reduce the risk of fungal infections like botrytis.
- Ensure proper spacing to allow air circulation and prevent mold.
