Planting Instructions for Cherokee Princess® Dogwood Tree:

Location & Soil Preparation: The Cherokee Princess® dogwood prefers a spot with partial shade to full sun (ideally, morning sun with afternoon shade). It thrives in rich, well-draining, slightly acidic soil (pH 5.5-6.5). If your soil is heavy clay or poor draining, amend it with organic matter such as compost to improve aeration and drainage.
Planting Depth & Spacing: Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and slightly shallower than the depth of the root ball. Dogwoods are shallow-rooted, so planting slightly higher than ground level (with the root flare just above the soil) helps prevent root rot. Space the tree 15-20 feet away from other trees or structures, allowing it room to grow and spread its canopy.
Initial Watering: After planting, water the tree deeply to help the roots establish. Apply a 2-3 inch layer of mulch around the base (keeping it 2-3 inches away from the trunk) to retain moisture, regulate soil temperature, and prevent weeds.
