Houseplant Information
Houseplant Information
Your houseplant will come in a black plastic nursery pot. It will have holes at the bottom of the pot to allow for proper drainage when watered. We recommend changing the pot when your plant arrives if you plan to grow your plant indoors.
How We Ship Your Plants
Ordering live plants online should feel exciting, not stressful! We only ship healthy, well-rooted trees and plants!
Beware- not all plant nurseries are the same! Others can cut corners to save money:
- We never ship bareroot plants
- We never cut roots to fit into a small box
- We always ship plants with healthy, developed roots so they establish faster at your home
- We focus on plant health first- not minimizing shipping costs
A strong root system is the foundation for long-term success, and we believe your plant should arrive ready to thrive- not struggling to recover from shortcuts.
How we Select Your Plants
Once you place your order, our nursery team selects your plant and inspects it to make sure it meets our quality standards. Every plant we ship is chosen for:
- Strong health and vibrant foliage
- A well-developed root system
- Correct sizing based on your order
We take pride in sending plants that are ready to succeed when they arrive at your home. We try our best to exceed your expectations!
Once your plants are selected, we give them a drink of water before their journey. Then, we wrap each plant's roots up in a plastic bag, so that they do not dry out during shipping.
Carefully Packed & Protected
Live plants can’t be packed like ordinary boxes, so we do it differently.
Your plant is carefully secured inside a strong shipping box to protect it while traveling. Packaging may include:
- Support materials for stability
- Protection around the pot and roots
- Reinforced boxing for added protection
For larger trees, we use oversize boxes designed to safely accommodate the size and structure of your plant during shipping.
Sometimes, you will receive multiple plants inside a box. This is helpful because it can evenly distribute the weight throughout the box, which helps keeps the plants safe and secure throughout delivery.
Fast & Reliable with FedEx
Most Nationwide Plants orders ship with FedEx. Over the years, we’ve found FedEx to be the best carrier for live plants, especially larger items, because:
- They deliver quickest across the country
- They are the most gentle with live plants
- Faster transit means less plant stress
Once your order ships, we will email you tracking information so you can follow your delivery from our nursery to your doorstep.
We ship Monday through Friday. Most orders ship the next business day, unless you request a custom shipping date.
Multiple Nursery Locations
We ship from multiple locations across the country, including both the East Coast and West Coast. This allows us to:
- Deliver faster in more regions
- Reduce time in transit for your plants
- Ship large items more efficiently

How We Measure Your Trees
We measure tree height from the soil line, not including the pot.
That means when you order a 5-6 ft. tree, you’re getting a tree that is 5-6 ft. tall above the soil, not “including the container.” This gives you a good idea of what to expect when your trees arrive, and what they will look like when they are in the ground.

After Your Plants Arrive
It’s completely normal for a plant to look slightly different after shipping. Your plant has been traveling in a box, so you may notice:
- Minor leaf drop
- Soil that shifted slightly in the pot
- Temporary drooping from being in a darker environment
In most cases, your plant perks up quickly once it’s unboxed, watered (if needed), and placed in the proper environment.
Unboxing Your Plants
When your plants arrive, we recommend:
-
Open carefully (avoid cutting into foliage)
-
Remove all packing materials
-
Check soil moisture (If the soil feels dry, give it a thorough watering)
-
Let the plant recover (Give it a little fresh air after shipping)
If you ever have questions or concerns, we’re happy to help!

Bonsai Juniper – A Timeless, Elegant, and Low-Maintenance Beauty
The Bonsai Juniper is one of the most popular bonsai trees for beginners and experts alike. With its striking evergreen foliage, natural adaptability, and sculptural form, this miniature tree brings a sense of tranquility and sophistication to any space. Whether displayed indoors or placed outside on a patio or balcony, the Juniper bonsai thrives with minimal care, making it a fantastic choice for anyone who wants a living piece of art.
Why You’ll Love the Bonsai Juniper
- Classic Bonsai Look – Features delicate, needle-like foliage and naturally windswept branches, giving it an elegant, aged appearance.
- Low Maintenance – Adaptable and forgiving, requiring little more than the right light and occasional watering.
- Air-Purifying Benefits – Helps clean the air and create a calming atmosphere, perfect for home or office spaces.
- Great for Beginners and Experts – One of the easiest bonsai species to care for, while still allowing for advanced styling and shaping.
- Outdoor and Indoor Versatility – While it prefers outdoor conditions, it can thrive indoors in bright, well-ventilated spaces.
A Bonsai That Captures the Essence of Nature
The Bonsai Juniper is admired for its rugged, yet graceful beauty. It is often styled in ways that mimic the ancient trees found in nature, growing in rocky cliffs or wind-swept mountainsides. With its signature feathery foliage and flexible branches, this tree is easily shaped into various classic bonsai styles, including the popular cascading or informal upright forms.
Unlike other bonsai varieties that require constant pruning, the Juniper is more forgiving, making it an excellent choice for those who want a stunning bonsai without the high maintenance.
Perfect for Beginners and Seasoned Growers Alike
The Bonsai Juniper is one of the easiest bonsai trees to care for, making it a top choice for beginners. It requires less frequent watering compared to other bonsai species and can tolerate a variety of growing conditions. This tree is also highly resilient to pruning mistakes, meaning even first-time growers can experiment with shaping without fear of damaging the tree.
For experienced bonsai artists, the Juniper offers a dynamic canvas for styling. Its fine-textured foliage and flexible branches allow for intricate designs, making it a favorite among bonsai enthusiasts who enjoy advanced shaping techniques.
How to Care for Your Bonsai Juniper
Light Requirements
Juniper bonsai trees thrive best in full sun to partial shade. If grown outdoors, place it in a bright spot where it receives at least 4-6 hours of direct sunlight per day. If you prefer to keep it indoors, make sure it’s near a south-facing windowor use grow lights to supplement natural light.
Watering Needs
While the Bonsai Juniper is drought-tolerant, it still requires regular watering. The key is to water when the top inch of soil feels dry but avoid overwatering, as it does not like to sit in standing water. A well-draining bonsai pot and soil mix will help prevent root rot.
Pruning & Shaping
- Minimal Maintenance – Prune lightly to maintain the shape and remove any unwanted growth.
- Styling Flexibility – Juniper bonsai trees are perfect for wiring and shaping. The branches are flexible and can be trained into elegant curves or dramatic windswept forms.
- Pinching Instead of Cutting – Unlike other bonsai trees, Junipers respond better to pinching off new growth rather than using scissors, which helps maintain their natural look.
Temperature & Humidity
The Juniper is an outdoor bonsai at heart and thrives in fresh air. It can tolerate a wide range of temperatures, including light frost, but should be protected from extreme cold. If kept indoors, ensure good air circulation and occasional misting to maintain humidity levels.
Fertilizing for Healthy Growth
During the growing season (spring and summer), apply a balanced bonsai fertilizer once every two weeks to encourage healthy foliage and root development. Reduce feeding to once a month in fall and winter when the tree enters dormancy.
Styling and Display: Making the Most of Your Bonsai Juniper
The beauty of the Bonsai Juniper lies in its ability to evoke a sense of age, wisdom, and resilience. Whether shaped into a dramatic cascade that mimics a tree growing on the edge of a cliff or trained into an upright form with rugged twists, this bonsai is an artistic masterpiece waiting to be crafted.
