How We Ship Your Plants
Ordering live plants online should feel exciting, not stressful! We only ship healthy, well-rooted trees and plants!
Beware- not all plant nurseries are the same! Others can cut corners to save money:
- We never ship bareroot plants
- We never cut roots to fit into a small box
- We always ship plants with healthy, developed roots so they establish faster at your home
- We focus on plant health first- not minimizing shipping costs
A strong root system is the foundation for long-term success, and we believe your plant should arrive ready to thrive- not struggling to recover from shortcuts.
How we Select Your Plants
Once you place your order, our nursery team selects your plant and inspects it to make sure it meets our quality standards. Every plant we ship is chosen for:
- Strong health and vibrant foliage
- A well-developed root system
- Correct sizing based on your order
We take pride in sending plants that are ready to succeed when they arrive at your home. We try our best to exceed your expectations!
Once your plants are selected, we give them a drink of water before their journey. Then, we wrap each plant's roots up in a plastic bag, so that they do not dry out during shipping.
Carefully Packed & Protected
Live plants can’t be packed like ordinary boxes, so we do it differently.
Your plant is carefully secured inside a strong shipping box to protect it while traveling. Packaging may include:
- Support materials for stability
- Protection around the pot and roots
- Reinforced boxing for added protection
For larger trees, we use oversize boxes designed to safely accommodate the size and structure of your plant during shipping.
Sometimes, you will receive multiple plants inside a box. This is helpful because it can evenly distribute the weight throughout the box, which helps keeps the plants safe and secure throughout delivery.
Fast & Reliable with FedEx
Most Nationwide Plants orders ship with FedEx. Over the years, we’ve found FedEx to be the best carrier for live plants, especially larger items, because:
- They deliver quickest across the country
- They are the most gentle with live plants
- Faster transit means less plant stress
Once your order ships, we will email you tracking information so you can follow your delivery from our nursery to your doorstep.
We ship Monday through Friday. Most orders ship the next business day, unless you request a custom shipping date.
Multiple Nursery Locations
We ship from multiple locations across the country, including both the East Coast and West Coast. This allows us to:
- Deliver faster in more regions
- Reduce time in transit for your plants
- Ship large items more efficiently

How We Measure Your Trees
We measure tree height from the soil line, not including the pot.
That means when you order a 5-6 ft. tree, you’re getting a tree that is 5-6 ft. tall above the soil, not “including the container.” This gives you a good idea of what to expect when your trees arrive, and what they will look like when they are in the ground.

After Your Plants Arrive
It’s completely normal for a plant to look slightly different after shipping. Your plant has been traveling in a box, so you may notice:
- Minor leaf drop
- Soil that shifted slightly in the pot
- Temporary drooping from being in a darker environment
In most cases, your plant perks up quickly once it’s unboxed, watered (if needed), and placed in the proper environment.
Unboxing Your Plants
When your plants arrive, we recommend:
-
Open carefully (avoid cutting into foliage)
-
Remove all packing materials
-
Check soil moisture (If the soil feels dry, give it a thorough watering)
-
Let the plant recover (Give it a little fresh air after shipping)
If you ever have questions or concerns, we’re happy to help!
Our 30-Day Plant Promise
We stand behind every order we ship with our 30-Day Plant Promise.
If your plant dies within 30 days of delivery, we will replace it or refund it. We’ve found that if there are ever issues, they typically show up in the first 30 days- so this guarantee gives our customers real peace of mind.
If anything doesn’t look right, contact us and we’ll help you troubleshoot quickly.

Description
Erie Shores™ Yew: Low-Growing Evergreen for Shade, Borders, and Foundations
Add year-round color and clean structure to your landscape with Erie Shores™ Yew. This dense, low-growing evergreen has a broad, spreading shape that stays close to the ground, making it a smart choice for foundation plantings, borders, low hedges, and mass plantings.
In spring, fresh bright green growth stands out against the darker mature needles. As the season continues, the foliage deepens to a rich green that stays attractive all year.
Why You'll Love Erie Shores™ Yew
Low, Spreading Growth: Erie Shores™ stays broad and compact, making it useful where you want evergreen coverage without a tall shrub.
Excellent Shade Tolerance: This yew performs well in shaded areas and can also handle partial sun.
Year-Round Evergreen Color: Deep green needles keep the landscape looking full through every season.
Bright Spring Growth: Fresh green new foliage creates a soft color contrast each spring.
Easy to Prune: Erie Shores™ responds well to trimming, so it can be shaped into clean borders, low hedges, or formal forms.
Slow-Growing and Low Maintenance: Its steady growth means less frequent pruning and easier long-term care.
A Low Evergreen for Foundations and Borders
The standout feature of Erie Shores™ Yew is its broad, spreading habit. It stays lower than many upright yews, helping it fit neatly under windows, along walkways, and at the front of landscape beds.
Its dense growth also helps create a finished look in places where you want evergreen structure without blocking views.
Bright Green Spring Growth Adds Fresh Color
Each spring, new growth emerges in a lighter green shade that stands out against the darker older foliage.
This soft color change gives Erie Shores™ extra seasonal interest while still keeping the dependable evergreen look yews are known for.
Where to Plant Erie Shores™ Yew
Foundation Plantings: Use it near homes where you want low evergreen structure and year-round color.
Garden Borders: Plant it along walkways, patios, and garden beds for a neat edge.
Low Hedges: Plant several together and trim as needed for a dense, formal border.
Mass Plantings: Group multiple plants together to cover larger areas with rich green foliage.
Shaded Spaces: Use Erie Shores™ in parts of the landscape where many sun-loving shrubs may struggle.
Large Containers: Grow it in a roomy outdoor pot for evergreen color on patios, porches, and entryways.
Erie Shores™ Yew Sun and Soil Needs
Sunlight: Erie Shores™ Yew grows well in shade to partial sun.
Soil: Plant in well-drained soil. Avoid areas where water stays around the roots for long periods.
Watering: Water regularly while the shrub is becoming established. Once established, provide extra water during long dry periods.
Easy to Shape With Pruning
Erie Shores™ Yew handles pruning very well, making it easy to keep the shrub at the shape and size you want.
Trim it into a neat low hedge, keep it as a clean border, or allow it to grow in its natural spreading form for a softer look.
Fine-Textured Foliage for a Polished Landscape
The narrow evergreen needles give Erie Shores™ a fine, refined texture that works well in both formal and relaxed garden designs.
Pair it with flowering shrubs, perennials, ornamental grasses, or broad-leaved plants to create contrast and layered interest.
Slow Growth Means Less Maintenance
Because Erie Shores™ grows slowly, it usually needs less frequent trimming than faster-growing shrubs.
This makes it a good choice for gardeners who want dependable structure and evergreen color without constant pruning.
Great Evergreen Color for Shaded Containers
Erie Shores™ can also be grown in large containers, especially in places where you want year-round greenery with a low, spreading shape.
Use it near entryways, on shaded patios, or in outdoor living areas where a taller evergreen may feel too large.
Dependable Evergreen Beauty With Easy Care
If you want a shrub with low spreading growth, excellent shade tolerance, year-round green foliage, easy pruning, and low-maintenance care, Erie Shores™ Yew is an excellent choice.
Plant Erie Shores™ Yew for lasting evergreen color, clean structure, and dependable beauty in foundations, borders, hedges, and shaded landscape spaces.
