How We Ship Your Plants
Ordering live plants online should feel exciting, not stressful! We only ship healthy, well-rooted trees and plants!
Beware- not all plant nurseries are the same! Others can cut corners to save money:
- We never ship bareroot plants
- We never cut roots to fit into a small box
- We always ship plants with healthy, developed roots so they establish faster at your home
- We focus on plant health first- not minimizing shipping costs
A strong root system is the foundation for long-term success, and we believe your plant should arrive ready to thrive- not struggling to recover from shortcuts.
How we Select Your Plants
Once you place your order, our nursery team selects your plant and inspects it to make sure it meets our quality standards. Every plant we ship is chosen for:
- Strong health and vibrant foliage
- A well-developed root system
- Correct sizing based on your order
We take pride in sending plants that are ready to succeed when they arrive at your home. We try our best to exceed your expectations!
Once your plants are selected, we give them a drink of water before their journey. Then, we wrap each plant's roots up in a plastic bag, so that they do not dry out during shipping.
Carefully Packed & Protected
Live plants can’t be packed like ordinary boxes, so we do it differently.
Your plant is carefully secured inside a strong shipping box to protect it while traveling. Packaging may include:
- Support materials for stability
- Protection around the pot and roots
- Reinforced boxing for added protection
For larger trees, we use oversize boxes designed to safely accommodate the size and structure of your plant during shipping.
Sometimes, you will receive multiple plants inside a box. This is helpful because it can evenly distribute the weight throughout the box, which helps keeps the plants safe and secure throughout delivery.
Fast & Reliable with FedEx
Most Nationwide Plants orders ship with FedEx. Over the years, we’ve found FedEx to be the best carrier for live plants, especially larger items, because:
- They deliver quickest across the country
- They are the most gentle with live plants
- Faster transit means less plant stress
Once your order ships, we will email you tracking information so you can follow your delivery from our nursery to your doorstep.
We ship Monday through Friday. Most orders ship the next business day, unless you request a custom shipping date.
Multiple Nursery Locations
We ship from multiple locations across the country, including both the East Coast and West Coast. This allows us to:
- Deliver faster in more regions
- Reduce time in transit for your plants
- Ship large items more efficiently

How We Measure Your Trees
We measure tree height from the soil line, not including the pot.
That means when you order a 5-6 ft. tree, you’re getting a tree that is 5-6 ft. tall above the soil, not “including the container.” This gives you a good idea of what to expect when your trees arrive, and what they will look like when they are in the ground.

After Your Plants Arrive
It’s completely normal for a plant to look slightly different after shipping. Your plant has been traveling in a box, so you may notice:
- Minor leaf drop
- Soil that shifted slightly in the pot
- Temporary drooping from being in a darker environment
In most cases, your plant perks up quickly once it’s unboxed, watered (if needed), and placed in the proper environment.
Unboxing Your Plants
When your plants arrive, we recommend:
-
Open carefully (avoid cutting into foliage)
-
Remove all packing materials
-
Check soil moisture (If the soil feels dry, give it a thorough watering)
-
Let the plant recover (Give it a little fresh air after shipping)
If you ever have questions or concerns, we’re happy to help!
Our 30-Day Plant Promise
We stand behind every order we ship with our 30-Day Plant Promise.
If your plant dies within 30 days of delivery, we will replace it or refund it. We’ve found that if there are ever issues, they typically show up in the first 30 days- so this guarantee gives our customers real peace of mind.
If anything doesn’t look right, contact us and we’ll help you troubleshoot quickly.

Shortstop Shasta Daisy: Big Charm in a Compact Package
If you love the timeless charm of Shasta Daisies but wish they were a little more manageable in smaller gardens or tight spaces, Shortstop Shasta Daisy is the plant you've been waiting for. This variety takes everything gardeners love about the classic daisy—bright white petals, golden centers, a long blooming season—and wraps it into a compact, easy-care package. It’s the perfect solution for modern gardeners who want maximum impact with minimal space.
Shortstop isn’t just a smaller daisy—it’s a game-changer for borders, containers, and small garden spaces. Whether you're revamping your patio planters, looking to brighten up a walkway, or want reliable color for a pollinator-friendly landscape, this tidy perennial will step up and perform.
Why You’ll Love the Shortstop™ Shasta Daisy
- Naturally Compact Habit: Grows just 12–15 inches tall and wide with a tidy, mounded form that never gets leggy or out of bounds.
- Extended Bloom Time: Blooms begin in late spring and keep going into mid-summer, often longer with light deadheading.
- True Container Star: Ideal for small gardens, patios, balconies, or anywhere you want upright blooms in a tight footprint.
- Pollinator Favorite: Bees and butterflies love the nectar-rich flowers, helping you support a healthy, vibrant landscape.
- No Extra Support Needed: Shortstop™ stays upright and tidy all season—no staking, tying, or fussing required.
- Tough, Low-Maintenance Performance: Heat-tolerant, drought-resilient once established, and deer-resistant, this plant thrives with minimal intervention.
Plant Highlights: What Makes Shortstop Stand Out
Here’s what makes Shortstop™ Shasta Daisy not just another daisy, but a next-level choice in the Leucanthemum family:
1. Compact Habit with Maximum Flowering
Shortstop™ is engineered to stay small without sacrificing bloom power. Its tight shape doesn’t sprawl, doesn’t flop, and doesn’t outgrow containers or bed edges. It packs in flower production like much larger varieties but on a tidy plant that’s easier to manage.
This makes it a go-to for:
- Urban gardeners with limited square footage
- Landscape pros needing low-profile color pops
- Homeowners looking for well-behaved front-of-border perennials
2. Prolonged Bloom Season
Shortstop Shasta Daisies get to work early and sticks around. Flowering begins in late spring and extends into mid-summer—a longer show than many other compact varieties. With regular deadheading, you can extend blooming even further, keeping your space looking lively and fresh through much of the season.
3. Tough and Resilient
- Tolerates heat and brief drought spells without issue
- Resists deer and most garden pests
- No staking or extra support needed
4. Excellent Container Performance
Shortstop is a great choice for container planting. Its root system stays tight and manageable, while the upright blooms stand proudly above the foliage. That makes it ideal for:
- Porch and patio pots
- Balcony gardens
- Courtyard color spots
- Mixed container arrangements with upright grasses, trailing vines, or compact foliage plants
5. A Perfect Fit for Small-Space Landscaping
This is one of the few Leucanthemum varieties that looks just as good in mass plantings as it does in a single container. Use it to:
- Create neat edging along pathways or driveways
- Add dimension and color to rock gardens or xeriscapes
- Introduce perennials into raised beds and pocket gardens
It’s size-smart, style-flexible, and always ready to work.
Design Ideas and Companion Planting
Shortstop Shasta Daisy fits into almost any garden style. Try it in:
- Cottage gardens, with companions like yarrow, echinacea, and coreopsis.
- Formal borders, alongside boxwood or dwarf conifers.
- Pollinator gardens, with bee balm, lavender, or agastache.
- Modern minimalist beds, where its symmetrical form adds structure and seasonal interest.
Fun Facts About Shortstop™ Shasta Daisy
- Developed as part of a new wave of space-saving perennials, Shortstop™ was bred to maintain its classic daisy look without the leggy growth.
- The Leucanthemum x superbum species has been around since the early 1900s, but modern hybrids like Shortstop™ are redefining how versatile daisies can be.
- The name “Shortstop™” is a clever nod to baseball—this daisy covers ground without straying from its position!
The Bottom Line: A Garden MVP
Shortstop Shasta Daisy brings classic beauty, modern reliability, and compact charm to any landscape. It’s perfect for anyone who wants vibrant, long-lasting blooms without dealing with the sprawling nature of traditional daisies.
Whether you're building a low-maintenance pollinator garden, sprucing up containers on your patio, or just want something simple and stunning to fill in a sunny spot, Shortstop is ready to perform.
Add this compact perennial to your garden lineup today and enjoy season after season of easy-care blooms.
