Planting Instructions for Juiced® Orange Jessamine (Murraya paniculata)

1. Site Selection and Soil Preparation:

• Location: Choose a location with full sun to partial shade. Orange Jessamine thrives in warm, tropical to subtropical climates.
• Soil: It prefers well-draining, loamy soil that is rich in organic matter. If your soil is heavy or clay-based, amend it with compost or organic material to improve drainage.
• Digging: Dig a hole that is about twice as wide and just slightly shallower than the root ball of your plant. Mounding the soil at the base of the plant slightly helps prevent waterlogging.

1. Planting:

• Place the plant in the center of the hole, making sure the top of the root ball is about an inch higher than the surrounding soil level to prevent sinking and drowning when the soil settles.
• Backfill the hole gently, firming the soil as you go, but avoid compacting it too much, as that can restrict root growth.
• Water thoroughly after planting to help settle the soil around the roots.
• Apply a layer of mulch around the base, leaving a few inches of space around the trunk to avoid rot. This helps retain moisture and keeps the soil temperature stable.

Care Instructions

1. Watering: During the establishment period (first 6-12 months), water your Juiced® Orange Jessamine regularly. Keep the soil moist, but not waterlogged. Deep watering once or twice a week is generally sufficient, especially during hot, dry weather.
2. Fertilizing: Feed your plant with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer (10-10-10 or similar) in early spring and midsummer to promote healthy growth and blooming. An organic fertilizer like compost or well-rotted manure also works well.
3. Monitoring: Watch for any signs of stress, such as yellowing leaves, which could indicate either overwatering or underwatering. Also, keep an eye out for pests like aphids or scale, which can be treated with insecticidal soap if needed.

Maintenance and Long-Term Care

1. Pruning: Light pruning in late winter or early spring will help keep the plant in shape and encourage dense growth. Remove any dead, damaged, or crossing branches. You can also prune to control the plant’s size and shape, especially if you're growing it as a hedge or ornamental shrub.
2. Pest Control: Orange Jessamine is generally pest-resistant, but watch for common garden pests like aphids, mealybugs, or whiteflies. In cases of infestation, treat the plant with neem oil or insecticidal soap.

Container and Indoor Planting for Juiced® Orange Jessamine

Choosing the Right Pot:

• Select a container with good drainage holes to prevent water from sitting at the bottom and causing root rot. A pot that is about 2-3 inches wider than the root ball works well for young plants.
• Terracotta or ceramic pots are ideal as they allow excess moisture to evaporate more easily, but any pot with proper drainage will work.

Soil for Containers:

• Use a high-quality, well-draining potting mix. A mix formulated for citrus plants works well, or you can create your own by combining equal parts of potting soil, sand or perlite, and organic compost.

Planting:

• Fill the bottom of the container with a layer of soil, and place the plant in the pot, keeping the root ball about an inch below the rim of the container. Ensure the top of the root ball is slightly higher than the surrounding soil to prevent water from pooling.
• Backfill around the roots with soil, pressing gently to remove air pockets, but don’t compact the soil too tightly.

• Spring to Fall: Move your potted plant outdoors once temperatures consistently stay above 55°F. Place it in a sunny spot, gradually exposing it to more direct sunlight to avoid sunburn on the leaves.
• Fall to Winter: Bring the plant indoors before the first frost. Be sure to clean the leaves and check for pests before moving it inside. Transition it to a bright, warm location indoors until the weather warms up again in spring.
