Houseplant Information

Your houseplant will come in a black plastic nursery pot. It will have holes at the bottom of the pot to allow for proper drainage when watered. We recommend changing the pot when your plant arrives if you plan to grow your plant indoors.

  1. Site Selection & Soil Preparation: The Improved Meyer Lemon bush thrives in full sun, requiring at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight daily for optimal growth and fruit production. Choose a location with well-draining soil, as lemons are sensitive to soggy conditions. Slightly acidic to neutral soil (pH 6.0-7.0) is ideal. If your soil is heavy or clay-like, amend it with sand or compost to improve drainage. Dig a hole slightly shallower than the root ball and twice as wide. Place the bush so the top of the root ball sits about an inch above the surrounding soil to prevent waterlogging.
  2. Spacing & Mulching: If planting more than one Meyer Lemon bush, space them 6-10 feet apart to allow for good air circulation. After planting, apply a 2-3 inch layer of organic mulch, such as pine bark or straw, around the base, keeping it a few inches away from the trunk to avoid rot. Mulching helps conserve moisture, reduce weeds, and keep the soil cool.
