How We Ship Your Plants
Ordering live plants online should feel exciting, not stressful! We only ship healthy, well-rooted trees and plants!
Beware- not all plant nurseries are the same! Others can cut corners to save money:
- We never ship bareroot plants
- We never cut roots to fit into a small box
- We always ship plants with healthy, developed roots so they establish faster at your home
- We focus on plant health first- not minimizing shipping costs
A strong root system is the foundation for long-term success, and we believe your plant should arrive ready to thrive- not struggling to recover from shortcuts.
How we Select Your Plants
Once you place your order, our nursery team selects your plant and inspects it to make sure it meets our quality standards. Every plant we ship is chosen for:
- Strong health and vibrant foliage
- A well-developed root system
- Correct sizing based on your order
We take pride in sending plants that are ready to succeed when they arrive at your home. We try our best to exceed your expectations!
Once your plants are selected, we give them a drink of water before their journey. Then, we wrap each plant's roots up in a plastic bag, so that they do not dry out during shipping.
Carefully Packed & Protected
Live plants can’t be packed like ordinary boxes, so we do it differently.
Your plant is carefully secured inside a strong shipping box to protect it while traveling. Packaging may include:
- Support materials for stability
- Protection around the pot and roots
- Reinforced boxing for added protection
For larger trees, we use oversize boxes designed to safely accommodate the size and structure of your plant during shipping.
Sometimes, you will receive multiple plants inside a box. This is helpful because it can evenly distribute the weight throughout the box, which helps keeps the plants safe and secure throughout delivery.
Fast & Reliable with FedEx
Most Nationwide Plants orders ship with FedEx. Over the years, we’ve found FedEx to be the best carrier for live plants, especially larger items, because:
- They deliver quickest across the country
- They are the most gentle with live plants
- Faster transit means less plant stress
Once your order ships, we will email you tracking information so you can follow your delivery from our nursery to your doorstep.
We ship Monday through Friday. Most orders ship the next business day, unless you request a custom shipping date.
Multiple Nursery Locations
We ship from multiple locations across the country, including both the East Coast and West Coast. This allows us to:
- Deliver faster in more regions
- Reduce time in transit for your plants
- Ship large items more efficiently

How We Measure Your Trees
We measure tree height from the soil line, not including the pot.
That means when you order a 5-6 ft. tree, you’re getting a tree that is 5-6 ft. tall above the soil, not “including the container.” This gives you a good idea of what to expect when your trees arrive, and what they will look like when they are in the ground.

After Your Plants Arrive
It’s completely normal for a plant to look slightly different after shipping. Your plant has been traveling in a box, so you may notice:
- Minor leaf drop
- Soil that shifted slightly in the pot
- Temporary drooping from being in a darker environment
In most cases, your plant perks up quickly once it’s unboxed, watered (if needed), and placed in the proper environment.
Unboxing Your Plants
When your plants arrive, we recommend:
-
Open carefully (avoid cutting into foliage)
-
Remove all packing materials
-
Check soil moisture (If the soil feels dry, give it a thorough watering)
-
Let the plant recover (Give it a little fresh air after shipping)
If you ever have questions or concerns, we’re happy to help!
Our 30-Day Plant Promise
We stand behind every order we ship with our 30-Day Plant Promise.
If your plant dies within 30 days of delivery, we will replace it or refund it. We’ve found that if there are ever issues, they typically show up in the first 30 days- so this guarantee gives our customers real peace of mind.
If anything doesn’t look right, contact us and we’ll help you troubleshoot quickly.

Your New Favorite Garden Powerhouse: Baby Pete™ Agapanthus | Blue Lily of the Nile
If you're looking for a plant that does more than just “look pretty,” Baby Pete™ Agapanthus is the all-in-one solution for beauty, durability, and easy maintenance. This compact, evergreen perennial is small in size—but it packs a punch. Whether you're outfitting a patio, dressing up borders, or creating a resilient landscape in a sunny space, this dwarf agapanthus delivers stunning results without the high demands.
Baby Pete™ is engineered for success in modern gardens. It’s adaptable, tough, and blooms earlier than most of its Agapanthus relatives. Its neat, clumping form keeps things orderly, while its violet-blue flowers provide a long-lasting burst of color from spring into the warmer months. In other words, this is the kind of plant you add once and enjoy for years—with minimal work.
Plant Highlights: What Makes Baby Pete™ Agapanthus Stand Out
Let’s get into why Baby Pete™ is the go-to plant for garden enthusiasts, landscape professionals, and container gardeners alike.
1. Compact Size, Major Impact
Measuring only 12–15 inches tall and wide, Baby Pete™ is perfect for tight garden spaces, small urban yards, or those awkward “what do I put here?” areas along paths and patios. This smaller size also makes it a game-changer for edging or lining walkways—delivering consistent form without overwhelming nearby plants.
2. Early Bloomer Advantage
Unlike most Agapanthus, Baby Pete™ starts showing off weeks ahead of the crowd. Expect blooms in mid-spring, well before traditional varieties enter their season. That means earlier color in your garden and a longer stretch of vibrant display—often through late summer.
3. Evergreen, All Year Appeal
This is not a plant that fades into the background when it's not blooming. Baby Pete™ keeps its lush, strappy green foliage all year, offering texture and fullness even in the off-season. That makes it a perfect solution if you’re trying to keep your garden visually interesting 12 months a year.
4. Resilient and Drought-Tolerant
Once established, Baby Pete™ is impressively drought-tolerant and heat-resistant. It's also suited for coastal gardens, where salt spray and sandy soils might challenge lesser plants. It's tough enough for commercial landscaping, yet charming enough for residential spaces.
5. Low-Maintenance Garden Solution
This is one of the few plants you can almost forget about—and still enjoy. It requires very little trimming, no complex fertilizing schedules, and doesn’t need to be divided as frequently as other perennials. It's a true “set-it-and-forget-it” kind of plant.
6. Versatile in Application
Use it as a border plant, in mass plantings, or tucked into decorative containers. Baby Pete™ fits just about anywhere you want bold flower color and clean foliage with minimal upkeep.
Why Baby Pete™ Is a Smart Landscaping Investment
Adding Baby Pete™ Agapanthus to your landscape brings more than color and form. You’re also investing in long-term beauty with short-term effort.
Gardeners and Designers Love It
Professionals use Baby Pete™ as a go-to for modern designs due to its consistent performance, symmetry, and tidy appearance. Whether you're creating a water-wise landscape, a Mediterranean-style yard, or just adding visual interest to your front entry, this plant performs like a pro.
Ideal for High-Traffic and Public Areas
Thanks to its tidy growth habit and tough-as-nails constitution, Baby Pete™ is frequently used in commercial projects. Think parking lots, median strips, and urban planters—places where plants must look good without needing weekly care.
An Excellent Choice for Wildlife-Friendly Gardens
Although it's deer-resistant and largely pest-free, Baby Pete™ still brings the buzz—literally. Pollinators like bees and butterflies are attracted to its early-season flowers, helping kickstart the ecosystem in your garden.
Smart Design Tips: How to Use Baby Pete™ in Your Landscape
Looking to make the most visual impact? Here are some practical ideas:
1. Perfect Pathway Planting
Line garden paths or walkways with Baby Pete™ for a uniform, architectural look. Its size is just right to frame walkways without encroaching.
2. Bold in Containers
Use Baby Pete™ in pots on your patio or front steps. Pair with taller ornamental grasses or trailing groundcovers for a mixed-height display.
3. Massed in Modern Beds
Plant in large drifts for a sea of violet-blue blooms. Space about 12–15 inches apart for a dense, low-growing cover that looks polished and lush.
4. Foundation Planting
Great in front of shrubs or along the edge of a raised bed. The foliage provides a clean, fresh backdrop even when not in bloom.
